Puerto Morelos: The Magic Gate

"Puerto Morelos is located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. With less than 10,000 inhabitants is considered the gateway to the Mayan Riviera. It is a town of beaches of white fine sand and crystalline, quiet waters, bordered by the second largest reef barrier in the world, and protected by the National Marine Park. It also offers incredible adventure experiences in sink holes and jungle, hotels from 1 to 5 stars and international gastronomy with authentic Mexican Caribbean flavors.

The symbol of Puerto Morelos is an old, leaning lighthouse that was affected by powerful hurricane Beulah in 1967.You must plan to visit the Central Plaza with it´s picturesque restaurants offering all types of cuisine, boutiques, arts and craft shops, the fishermen´s wharf, the quaint church and many other attractive sites."

Definitely Puerto Morelos is a spot you can´t miss if you visit this part of the country. We found it particularly magical. This is the right place if you truly want to rest and relax. Here you won´t find huge hotels, noisy streets, fancy shopping malls, banks or international franchises.
